Girl Scout Badges for Brownies & Juniors
In this 2 hour program for 10 Scouts, Brownies will meet the requirements to earn the Fun With Horses badge and Juniors will meet the requirements to earn the Horse Riding badge.
Scouts will learn how to feed a horse, what they eat, how often they eat, as well as some important facts about a horse’s anatomy, medical treatments, and prevention of illnesses. Scouts will learn proper cleaning and maintenance of a horse, costs of upkeep, safety, proper grooming techniques, and tacking a horse. Walking with a leader one at a time, Scouts will learn to steer, stop and jog a horse. They will be in groups of 2-3 per horse, each having a guide for safety. Badges are included and provided at end of program.
Scouts should wear pants, boots or shoes with a low heel, or sturdy sneakers. Helmets are provided. Parents are welcome to stay to watch, but please do not bring other siblings.
This program is available on Sunday mornings, 10 AM to 12 PM each weekend year round. Minimum number of Scouts to book this program is 10, up to 5 additional Scouts can be added at $45 per Scout.
